"Bush didn't just make stuff up to justify his war plans. He found things in the intel he was provided that made his case and he ignored anything that called for patience or diplomacy. Is that lying? Not exactly. Is that being honest? Well, not quite. Did he go into this war knowing that his reasoning was based on only part of the story and what amounted to half truths? Yes. Did he go to war hoping that everything would turn out for the best and make his shaky case for war seem just? Yes. Was a man who'd snuck into the White House through the help of his Daddy's friends on the Supreme Court and was desperate for a way to look manly and presidential willing to gamble US, allied and Iraqi lives to win re-election? Yes. Are any or all of these actions war crimes? I hope we get the chance to find out after Obama/Clinton take office."

"It is interesting that H42 singles out for praise vetoing a bill that would ban US sponsored torture. When our citizens are tortured we say it is an outrage or an atrocity but when we do it I guess it's okay, huh? But what do we say when a government holds one of our citizens and reasons that if the US says waterboarding is okay then it's okay for them waterboard US citizens it detains?"
